AIR LEAD - Medicolegal & Forensic Program

Legal Issues are often the Catalyst for Treatment

Have you or a loved on been in trouble with the police for drink or drug driving, or possession charges, and are facing jail time? We have the experience to provide you and your lawyer with alternatives.

AIR LEAD FORENSIC PROGRAM

Our experience has shown that those who are actively pursuing sobriety/abstinence, and show signs of clear contrition in relation to alcohol and substance misuse, are regarded more favourably by magistrates and judges.

Post discharge, a key component of the AIR LEAD program is to provide comprehensive reports to lawyers and if needed appear as expert and/or character witnesses for clients.

The AIR LEAD forensic program includes:

  • Liaising with solicitors and barristers
  • Able to conduct in-custody/webex assessments
  • Post-discharge weekly counselling sessions until court date
  • Provide family/partners support through our families' program
  • Prepare and provide evidentiary court reports
  • Provide UDT urine drug screens to court
  • Appear as expert and/or character witness

UDT - URINE SCREENING

AIR14's Malvern facility has the ability to conduct and process urine specimen collection for the detection and quantitation of drugs of dependence. This can also be coupled with post-discharge AOD counselling for further medicolegal followup.

MEDICOLEGAL REPORTING

In addition to forensic UDT screening, AIR14 clients can make use our medicolegal reporting service, as a component of their defence.

Our medicolegal team comprises qualified and registered health practitioners and professionals who can appear in court and give evidence based on our assessment and progress within AIR14's program. These staff have decades experience writing reports and providing expert testimony.

Our medicolegal services include:

(a) Independent examinations and assessments - both pre-admission and post discharge

(b) Ongoing AOD counselling and reporting

(c) Expert witness services

(d) Case evaluations

(e) Psychological assessments & reports

(f) Home visits (when required)
